Since this is a less crowded location, horseback riding here mimics an actual ride in the wild, wild west. There are staff on hand to guide you as well as a wide variety of well behaved and beautiful horses. Due to blazing summer weather in AZ, hours may be limited during the hotter months. A reservation is needed so schedule ahead for this specific adventure.
Another option is the River Tours. Hop in a Kayak and paddle your way through the Sonoran Desert. You will be guided by a professional as you learn about the plant life and history of the river. This adventure offers some beautiful scenery, and will never be very crowded. This tour takes about 4 hours so plan ahead and let yourself loose track of time on this relaxing yet invigorating river ride.
If you prefer not to ride a horse or Kayak the day away, the Green Zebras off-road tour might be your best option. You take the drivers seat but you have a professional guide as your passenger. Off-roading through the Sonoran Desert is exhilarating and family friendly. Kiddos age 13 and up can join a tour. You will be given a safety briefing before zooming through the varied terrain. Buckle up and head out into the beautiful desert for a 2 hour off-roading ride.
Last but not least, you can take a desert tour via Segway! Fort McDowell Segway tours offer you an amazing visual experience you can enjoy without being super sporty. The scenic views offer you sights unseen in any other area. This is great for larger groups as you can interact more so than on a Kayak or off-roading vehicle. This tour typically takes about 2 hours.
